2 down 3 to go

I remembered a few weeks ago that I never acknowledged Kenna for earning her Young Women's Medallion!  She finished her projects and value experiences last October, so this post is just a tad late! The medallion has changed since Lindsay earned hers, they added a 'ruby' and a beehive at the bottom of it.

Some of her projects included a quilt (which took over a year to get her to finish), she made (and wore) a modest skirt, volunteered at the Ammon pool helping with swimming lessons, read the Book of Mormon and kept a journal on it..... these are just a few of the projects she did, not to mention 7 value experiences in each of the values.  It's a lot of work to accomplish this and we are happy that she realizes the value of hard work and the importance of getting her YW Medallion!  I'm sure there were several moments of nagging and tears shed for both her and myself - but it was worth it!  Way to go Kenna!! Now, only 3 girls to go - I (we) can do this

T-REX named Sue

Last week Jace and I went to the Museum of Idaho with his pre school class to see the return of  'A t-rex named Sue.' It's been 10 years since 'Sue' has been to our museum and Jace was super excited to be able to see the most complete bones of a dinosaur ever unearthed!  He even wore a dinosaur shirt for the occasion.  Here is 'Sue' - she was named after the paleontologist that found her (they don't really know if 'she' is male or female). It's hard to tell from this picture but this dinosaur is HUGE!
 Jace posing with Sue
They had all sorts of fun interactive things for the kids to do besides seeing different dinosaur bones and other fossils.

 Some other dinosaur fossils

They also have a 'kid' area that doesn't change inside the museum  - Jace loved it, every other time we've been to the museum it's been roped off so we haven't been in it before.

This was a fun little field trip but thank goodness I have some friends who have kids in pre school with him - so I have ladies to talk with.  I finally had to bribe Jace with a trip to dad's office if we could please leave the museum -  He'll do anything to get to see dad at work!

Easter 2012

The Saturday before Easter, we picked the wrong egg hunt to attend.  It's usually held in the park but we got phone calls Friday night saying they were moving it to the middle school (it snowed) -I still figured it would be in the football field at the middle school, I was wrong!  They had it inside, in the class rooms! Here is the room where the 3-5 year olds were and all their parents! It was so crowded you couldn't even move - not all the kids could even get near the eggs there were so many kids (and parents). Once it was time to get the eggs, the kids in the back didn't get many since the kids in front and their parents gathered them up before they could move towards them - not very well thought out. Jace was scared to death and ended up hanging onto Kenna for dear life, and Baylie (yes she's 7) got 3 eggs.  Baylie wouldn't survive in the 6-9 year old group!
Later that afternoon, it was time to color our eggs - Jace was so looking forward to this, I think it was his favorite thing about Easter!

Easter morning, the kids were able to find their baskets.
They also noticed the Easter bunny left eggs all over our yard - so they ventured out into the cold to gather them up!

All ready for church - our Easter dresses are dresses we got while in Hawaii - Jace got a new tie

We had a wonderful Easter day!  We were able to reflect on the Savior and his sacrifice for each of us and His glorious resurrection - we are grateful to Him for all the blessings we have and for the knowledge of eternal families, that we will all be resurrected one day and return to live with Him.

Baylie is 7!

We celebrated Baylie's 7th birthday on March 25, she had been anticipating her birthday for weeks! For a little girl, having a Sunday birthday isn't very fun but she made the best of it!
Here she is with her french toast, her requested birthday breakfast.
We have 11 o'clock church so there was plenty of time for her to open her gifts before we left!

She got several new outfits, some favorite treats, money and new sandals
Here she is with her cake, a yummy white cake with raspberry filling and butter cream icing!
 Making a wish.......
 Blowing the candles out........
Here a few pictures from her class at school.  Jace and I took treats in on Friday March 23 to let her celebrate with her class.  We took soda and skittles candy.  Her teacher, Mrs. Brinton waved her arms around like she was leading the class while they sang 'happy birthday' to her - it was pretty cute!
 Passing out the skittles.....
All ready for church in her new dress -
We love that Baylie is in our family - she is such a sweet and funny little girl.  Baylie loves to sleep so she gives us a run for our money each morning as we try to get her up and ready for school - It is far too often that she's running to make the bus! She is a huge JOY to have in our home (if you don't count mornings) and we love that Heavenly Father sent her to us to raise, she is such a good girl, she has a tender heart and tries hard to be a peacemaker - she makes us laugh and we enjoy every moment of her!
